Kundai Moyo is a London based artist with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Wits University, and Masters in Visual Sociology from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Her practice imagines how the personal and communal business of love might enable the theoretical reframing of our socio-cultural particularities, erotics and feminisms. Moyo considers questions around love, and it’s conduits: care, recognition, respect and intimacy. This line of exploration manifests itself in many ways, namely through social experiments conducted with the use of photography and video work. She has participated in numerous group shows and was awarded the Wits Young Artist Award in 2018 and selected for the South African Reserve Bank Art Scholarship in 2019.

The series of works by artist Kundai Moyo are relief works, primarily. They too are works that are intended to gesture towards the sculptural, tactile and the meeting of the materials used in their assembly.

The relationship to colours and the materiality of both paper and cotton are places that as a printmaker, I was thrilled to explore with Kundai. Significantly these works made by hand of hands, have come to be in the year when to touch and to be lovingly near are things we yearn for.

The fabric used is from Sara-Aimee’s personal collection put together over a number years. It has softened, weathered, become more and more malleable over time and its exposure to the many hands that have held and cared for it.
